Underneath All That Snow..

The first picture was taken Wednesday as I came into our neighborhood -- the day before the current winter storm hit. Wicked looking, yet beautiful, clouds.
The second picture shows what is actually underneath all that snow -- about 3/4" to 1" of ice.
The rest of the pictures were taken between noon and 1pm today. Dad went out to clean (chisel) the ice off the windows of his car, and I donned my new coat & boots and walked all around the house and up & down the street taking pictures.
When I woke from my 'long winter's nap' at 3:30, it was snowing big time. It's still snowing now (6:30 pm), & I'd say we have at least 6".
The bird pictures? Dad has been feeding them. I heated up some stale brown-&-serve rolls and crumpled them up for them. I'd say I did my good deed for local audubon society today.
We only lost our electric for about an hour early yesterday evening. Just long enough for me to get candles in each room & my oil lamps burning.
Of course, a snow day spent inside makes me cook & bake more. This morning I made sausage & scrambled eggs. I bought the eggs from a student who raises chickens. I also make a double recipe of meatloaf. I've got beans soaking for bean soup tomorrow. I reorganized my refrigerator freezer & found all sorts of stuff I'd forgotten. I think I'm thawing some cookie dough, at least I hope so!
