Bird Watching

In this cold, snowy weather Dad leaves dry dog food on the barrels in the back yard, since the birds regularly eat it from Annie's bowl year-round. When we got home from church this morning, there were two blue birds along with a bunch of smaller, black birds. I took this picture from the kitchen window. If you look close, you can see a pellet of dog food in the bird's mouth.

My Christmas Dishes

The red tree dish & the glasses, of course, didn't come with the set.

2009 White Christmas

Snowdrifts outside the front door.
We have our 'white Christmas.' And the wind is still howling. But the sun is shining!
Merry Christmas everyone!

Happy Birthday, Billy!

Christmas Blizzard -- no joke

Just took these pictures out the front door about 15 minutes ago. It's supposed to snow from now til 9 am tomorrow. We have the first blizzard warning ever issued for our area from the National Weather Service. Brett just made it in the door, thankfully, from work. The cable flickered a few minutes ago (yeeks!). Hopefully, we don't lose electricity! We definitely will have a 'White Christmas.'

Scout's Latest Medical Ailment

Took Scout to the vet yesterday because for nearly a month he's been holding his back left leg up & not putting weight on it. After the vet ruled out (1) a fracture, (2) a torn ACL in his knee, and (3) took two x-rays, she decided he's probably got arthritis. So now, in addition to his various & sundry other meds, he's on an anti-inflammatory and a glucosimine chondroitin (not sure how to spell that) for his joints. After checking his (thick) medical file & noticing all the medicines he's already on, she had to rule out any drug interactions! I told her he's our little medical wonder!
Seriously, he'll be 12 in February, so he's nearing 84 years old.

A First

Yes, that's a fire in the fireplace! We've only been in this house 15 years last week, and this is the first time we've used the fireplace. We had to have time to mull the idea around in our heads before plunging into such a momentous event.

The Front Porch

I decorated the front porch for Christmas. Hopefully the wind (or a big dog) won't carry the little tree away! It's still not what I really intended, but it's a start.

Christmas Brunch

Dad & I got to help at the Seniors' Christmas Brunch last Saturday. Around 40 people were there. We had a good time & hope the seniors did too.
